The Quiet of a Barn

20140225-162414.jpg

There is a quiet of a barn

When the sun sets behind in the meadows

There is a quiet of a tiny cricket

Singing softly of its tale of the day

And there is a quiet of the truck

That is parked next to the barn

There is a quiet of the small black crows

As they watch the colors of the sun spread through the evening sky

And a quiet on the swing that hangs inside of the barn

Silently swinging back and forth,

Without a child’s voice to be heard

There is a quiet on the pond made of glass

With ducks swimming slowly around

There is quiet of a mother longing to tuck her child into bed

While she listens to the evening noises of the barn

Along the shadow of the barn there is a grave

Silently resting in peace.
